The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team went down in the first T20I against Bangladesh. It was their first-ever loss in T20I cricket against Bangladesh. After being put in to bat, India could muster 148 on a tacky pitch in Delhi. The visitors kept chased it down in the final over to register a historic win.

There were a lot of moments where India failed to capitalize. There were a couple of LBW calls against Mushfiqur Rahim which they didn’t review (ball-tracking showed three reds for both). Krunal Pandya dropped a crucial catch in the 18th over which turned the game and momentum on its head. Moreover, India’s execution with the ball at the death was also not up to the mark.

Thus, there are a lot of questions ahead of the second T20I which is scheduled to be played in Rajkot. Rohit Sharma once again faced the media on the eve of the second game. The stand-in Indian skipper was not amused when a phone rang during the press conference.

Sharma was trying to explain how the ‘Men in Blue’ are trying new players and how the key players are rested. At that very moment, a phone rang and a miffed captain said, “Please keep your phone on silent boss”. The Mumbaikar explained how T20 is the right format to try new players and get them ready for the other (longer) formats.

Rohit Sharma set to become the second player to play 100 T20Is

Rohit Sharma is no stranger to breaking records and reaching new landmarks. While most of them have been with the bat, here is one because of the number of games he’s played. When he takes the field in the second T20I against Bangladesh in Rajkot, Rohit will become just the second player to feature in 100 T20Is. Shoaib Malik holds the record for the most appearances in this format – 111.

“It’s been a long journey since 2007, I made my debut in the T20 World Cup. There has been a lot of ups and downs in the last 12 years in this format particularly. This has taught me so many lessons going forward,” the Indian opener had said during the presser in Delhi ahead of the first T20I when he was quizzed about the landmark.
